The 7 largest EV charging networks in Australia, with the most AC Type 2 charging locations, are Chargefox, Exploren, Tesla, AGL, EVX, EVUp and Everty.

3 of the large networks offer Autocharge, starting automatically when you plug in. Half let you add and use your own single RFID card or tag, to activate them. Some have credit card terminals, some use QR codes to a portal, most have an app, some a combination of methods.

Medium to Large EV Charging Apps ( >50 public sites in Australia)

  1. AGL EV Charging app is available on Apple and  Android. AGL has kerbside pole charger sites in NSW. You may activate AGL chargers with either the AGL App, AGL RFID or add your own RFID. Some AGL stations are also listed on the Chargefox App.

  2. Ampol AmpCharge EV charging network uses the Ampol app from Apple and Android The Ampcharge EV charging network has DC charger sites in several states. https://ampcharge.ampol.com.au
  3. BP Pulse EV charging network uses the bp pulse app, available on the Apple App store, or on Android. BP Pulse also offer an RFID card,  or you can add your own, through their app.  You may also use Chargefox app or any RFID linked to your Chargefox account, to locate and activate BP Pulse chargers. You may also use the EasyPark app. With Chargefox and EasyPark, pricing may differ from charging directly with BP Pulse.   4. Chargefox EV charging network has DC and AC chargers across Australia. Chargefox doesn’t own chargers, it provides a software platform for charger and electric vehicle management including the driver interface and roaming ability across other networks (https://www.chargefox.com/company). The Chargefox app may be dowloaded from Apple or Android. Chargefox also provide an RFID card,  or you can add your own, through their app.
    The Chargefox app and any RFID card attached to Chargefox App may be used at all chargers shown on the Chargefox app. This includes EV charging stations hosted by Chargefox, such as those owned by RACV, RAA SA, RACT, AANT, RAC WA, WA EV, Yurika, Charge Ahead, EnergyAustralia, Shell Recharge and many other private or public organisations. Chargefox may also be used at Partner Networks, which include BP Pulse, Citipower-Powercor-United, EVX Australia, NRMA, some Sonic Charge stations, some Exploren DC stations and some AGL stations. You need to be signed in to the app to see all Chargefox and Partner Networks’ charging locations.
    The RAA SA says RAA Members receive 10% discount at their RAA EV charging network on the Chargefox app or RFID. Chargefox say they give members of all motoring organisations 10% discount at select DC locations. Their website lists such locations. https://www.chargefox.com/
  5. Charge Hub EV charging network has AC and DC EV charging sites in several states. The Charge Hub app is on Apple and Android and they offer a RFID card. https://www.chargehub.solutions/
  6. EasyPark EV charging network has an app on Apple and Android. EasyPark are a parking app that also provides access to EV charging in Australia. The networks of EV chargers shown on the app are BP Pulse, Origin 360 and Alchemy Charge EV charging networks. Note that the chargers only appear on the map when you zoom into their location.   7. Everty Driver EV charging app is on Apple or Android.  The app shows locations of DC & AC chargers in all states and ACT and NT.  The Everty app shows locations of all chargers Everty operates, plus some AGL chargers. Everty chargers and some AGL chargers may be activated in the Everty app. Everty also provide an RFID card or you can add your own. https://everty.com.au 
  8. Evie EV charging app is on  Apple or Android  and gives access to Evie DC & AC electric vehicle charging network in all states, the ACT and NT. Evie provide an RFID card, or you can add your own, in their app.

  9. EVUp UpCharge EV charging network has chargers in all states, NT and ACT. EVUp uses the UPCharge app on Apple or Android and there is a Web based App on their website. https://www.evup.com.au
  10. EVX Australia EV charging app is for EVX EV charging network AC chargers, available from Apple or Android.  EVX allow you to register your own RFID card in their app. You may also activate some EVX stations with the Chargefox App or an RFID linked to your Chargefox App. https://evx.tech/
  11. Exploren EV charging app, is on Apple or Android and gives access to the Exploren DC & AC electric vehicle charging network in all states, the ACT and NT. You can order a RFID card with Exploren or add your own RFID card.   12. Ivygo is a Peer to Peer EV charging network service with an app to find and book EV charging spaces. People with EV chargers can offer them to other EV drivers who may book to use them. The app shows chargers when you search or if you zoom in and tap refresh icon. Ivygo EV charging network has sites in Qld, NSW, Vic, TAS, SA and WA.   13. JOLT Electric Vehicle Charging app, on  Apple or Android is for access to the Jolt EV charging network DC chargers. Jolt provide an Autocharge capability on the Flex or Pro plan. Sites are in Qld, NSW, Vic and SA. https://jolt.com.au/  .

  15. NRMA EV charging use the My NRMA app on  Apple or Android and is for NRMA EV charging network of DC and AC chargers. You can also use the Chargefox app or any RFID card that you have added to your Chargefox App, but NRMA app has lower pricing than using Chargefox RFID or app at NRMA chargers and members get a further 5c/kWh discount if they use NRMA App. More details on NRMA pricing methodology here.
  16. Porsche EV Charging Network The Porsche Destination Charging Network is a global EV charging network service with 106 AC and 5 DC sites in Australia (as per app 17-3-2026) The My Porsche app is on Apple and Android and you don’t need to be a Porsche owner to register and use the app to find charger locations.   17. RAA SA EV charging network has over 140 locations across South Australia and displays their locations and details, including price on a map on their Website. and in their app, but to charge, you need to use the Chargefox app. The Chargefox app displays all of the RAA chargers. RAA members receive a 10% discount on all RAA EV charging stations if they enter their RAA Membership number into the Chargefox app.
  18. Tesla EV charging app is on Apple and Android There are Tesla Supercharger DC locations around Australia and several hundred AC charge points. Of the 158 Tesla Supercharger sites, 94 are flat rate, 64 are ToU. Tesla provides an Autocharge capability for Tesla vehicles, which allows them to plug in and the charger recognises the car and starts charging.
    Tesla has opened many of its sites for use by non Tesla vehicles, using the Tesla app.

    There are 158 Tesla Supercharger locations, providing 1,041 Tesla Supercharging bays in Australia.
    116 of the Tesla Supercharger locations, with 797 Tesla Supercharging bays, are open to Other EVs to use.

  19. Wevolt EV charging app is on Apple or Android. Wevolt EV charging network includes both DC & AC chargers. Wevolt account enables roaming on Bright Charge, Citipower-Powercor-United, Go Charge,and Wevolt EV charging stations. Zuup Roam EV charging app launched in Dec 2025 and shows the Citipower-Powercor-United network, plus some locations on the Saascharge platform including some operated by Smart Charge and Charge N Go.  Zuup don’t own or operate their own sites, they provide roaming access to other charge point operator’s sites.   1. Alchemy Charge EV charging app is on Apple and Android. The Alchemy Charge EV charging network provides Level 1 AC charging through replacement 10A and 15A power points which have internet capability. There is also a Level 2 Type 2 location shown on their app in Vic. Some Alchemy Charge locations are also available on the EasyPark app. https://www.alchemycharge.com.au/
  2. Alpine Energy EV Charging Network Alpine Energy have installed 2 public Ampernext brand DC chargers in Oxley Vic which activate via Credit Card.   3. CasaCharge EV charging app from Apple and Android. CasaCharge EV charging network has AC chargers in WA, SA and NSW and DC Chargers in WA. https://casacharge.com.au/

  6. Charge N Go Australia EV charging app is on Apple or Android for their EV charger network of DC & AC chargers. You can add your own RFID by going into My Profile then Fleet and adding your number in the RFID field.   9. CitiPower-Powercor-United (“CPU”)  group doesn’t have an app, but has a website page on which it lists locations and the apps you can use to activate their chargers. PlugShare App – Location of all chargers

PlugShare app is a key app as it shows locations of most EV charging networks, non networked chargers and home chargers, reviews on their status, an alert system to notify you of reviews, a trip planning function, ability to filter for charger speed, filter for AC or DC, filter for chargers at accommodation venues, ability to see chargers restricted to guests and to see chargers comming soon. Download PlugShare from Apple or Google Play. PlugShare is owned by EVGo Inc.

PlugShare also provides a single payment portal called Pay With PlugShare, which EV charging networks can join if they wish https://help.plugshare.com/hc/en-us/articles/7678161142035-Get-started-Pay-with-PlugShare I am not aware of any Australian networks joining Pay With PlugShare yet or what fees are involved to join.

RFID Cards for EV Charging in Australia

Some EV charging networks offer RFID cards for EV Charging, or let you add your own RFID card in their App, which is great, as you can keep them in your car and use them to activate the charger without your phone.

There are options if you wish to use a RFID card.

1. Order RFID cards
If you wish, you may order a RFID card for each of these networks:  AGL, BP Pulse, Chargefox, Charge Hub, Elanga, Enevi, Everty, Evie, Exploren, Smart Charge, Wevolt, Zuup Roam.

2. Add your own single RFID card
14 EV Networks let you tap and charge by adding into their app, the number on a single RFID card or RFID tag that you have. You can then use that single card to tap and activate at all those networks which are: AGL, BP Pulse, Chargefox, Charge N Go Australia, Elanga, Enevi, Everty, Evie, EVX Australia, Exploren, Get Electric, SolarHub, Wattshare and Wevolt.

3. Roam with Chargefox
You may, for the networks which are on Chargefox app, choose to just use the Chargefox app or one RFID on your chargefox account.

A Chargefox account enables access to about 1,849 EV charging sites*.

The Partner Networks, who have partnered with Chargefox, as an additional way for customers to use their chargers, include BP Pulse, Citipower-Powercor-United, EVX Australia, NRMA, some Sonic Charge locations, some Exploren DC locations and some AGL stations.

Plus Chargefox’s own network, for which only Chargefox provides customer services, for many EV chargers, including RACV, RAA SA, RACT, AANT, RAC WA, WA EV, Yurika, Charge Ahead, EnergyAustralia, Shell Recharge and others.

Activation is by Chargefox app, or RFID linked to a Chargefox account. Some stations have credit card facilities.

You need to be signed in to the app to see all charging locations.

4. Use a supplied card only
There are 5 networks, that let you use their app, or an RFID card they issue you: Charge Hub, Origin 360 EV Charge, Smart Charge, Zuup Roam and AmpCharge (Using an AmpolCard which is available for Businesses/Fleets/Leases).

5. No RFID card option
18 EV Networks don't have RFID cards as an option. They use methods like Credit Card, or Autocharge, or their app, or to scan a QR code to a payment portal: Alchemy Charge, AmpCharge (only Ampol business/fleet card at present), Casacharge, ChargeAway, Charge N Leaf, ChargeOn EV, ChargeNextDoor, ChargePost, EasyPark, Elu, EVUp, I-Charge, Ivygo, Jolt, Noodoe, Sonic Charge, T-Power and Tesla.

Type 2 Cable

I carry and use a 22kw 32A 3Phase Type 2 Cable. There are different strengths of cable, 7kw or 22 kw. For Tesla you need the 22 kw 32A 3Phase cable.
