- AGL EV Charging App. AGL EV Charging points are pole mounted and instructions on the charger are to activate with either App or RFID. - NRMA EV Charging App Apple or Android is for NRMA EV charging network DC and AC chargers. PlugShare app is a key app as it shows locations of all the kinds of EV charging networks listed above, reviews on their status and a trip planning function. Download PlugShare from Apple or Google Play. PlugShare is owned by EVGo Inc.
6 EV charging Apps I use regularly are PlugShare, Tesla, Chargefox, Evie, Jolt and Exploren. The other apps I use when travelling throughout NSW and interstate.
EV charging apps enable you to locate and activate each remote charging device, pay for your charging and provide a range of information on the charging experience in your account, including both kWh used and billing history.
Type 2 Cable
For many of the AC chargers, you will need to take your own Type 2 22kW cable, available from Tesla or most ev charging suppliers.
RFID Cards for EV Charging in Australia
Some EV charging networks offer RFID cards, or let you add your own, which are great, as you can keep them in your car and use them to activate the charger without your phone.
12 EV Networks let you add your own RFID card or tag
♦ BP Pulse, Chargefox, Elanga, Everty, Evie, Exploren and Wevolt have their own cards but also allow you to add your own RFID card or tag number.
♦ Autel, Enevi, EVX and SolarHub don’t have their own card but allow you to add your own RFID card in their app.
♦ **NRMA let you use any card linked to your Chargefox account.
3 EV Networks only let you use the RFID card they issue you
♦ Charge Hub, Smart Charge and Seavolt use only the card they issue you.
14 EV Networks don’t yet provide a RFID card or option to add one
♦ AGL EV Charging, Alchemy Charge, AmpCharge, Casacharge, Chargebay, Charge N Go Australia, EO, Elu, EVUp, Get Electric, Jolt, Noodoe, OTR EV and Tesla don’t offer RFID.
♦ ^^Charge N Go Australia app uses same back end software (Saascharge) as Smart Charge App so you may use the Smart Charge RFID on some Charge N Go Australia chargers where the charger owner has opted in to Saascharge roaming.

- ABRP A Better Routeplanner app, in Apple or Android. I don’t use this, as I use PlugShare. I have tried to look at trips in ABRP a few times but I found it is missing lots of chargers, which are shown on PlugShare. I understand some people may like to try it though. ABRP is owned by the US company Rivian Automotive, Inc.
- Anelo is a new website https://www.anelo.com.au/ which says it will offer parking and ev charging from an app. Company is Anelo Pty Ltd.
- Chargehound is a service announced by Parkhound to list and charge out to others your home EV charger and parking space. Currently they have an Apple app that allows you to filter their parking space search for EV charging and book and pay for parking spaces . - ChargeBoss are a provider of ev chargers and software in Australia. They don’t have an app but have a payment gateway. Website is https://chargeboss.com.au/ev-chargers/ some chargers link to ChargeBoss via Noodoe platform and app. Charge Boss Pty Ltd is a partner and distributor of Noodoe EV chargers in Australia
- ChargePost City EV charging network https://www.chargepost.com.au is a new network starting up. Company name ChargePost Pty Ltd. On their website they say an App is coming soon https://www.chargepost.com.au/get-the-app
- Charge Star Charge Star on its website says it was founded in December 2009 as E-Station, and that Charge Star is Australia’s oldest charging station supplier. Their site says you can use their chargers by credit card or third party apps https://www.chargestar.com.au/about-us/. Company name Chargestar Pty Ltd.
- Electrona EV chargers, first installed at Bicheno Tasmania, allow you to pay by credit card. A description of how their Bicheno DC charger works is at https://electrona.au/evc/bchno/bchno-001.html and their corporate site is at https://electrona.com.au/ You may also use the Wevolt app. Company name Electrona Pty Ltd.
- Flow Power Highway has been announced by Gridserve as a partnership with Flow Power to install DC charging in Australia called The Flow Power Highway. The partnership will see the companies deliver an Australia-wide public network of ultra-fast EV chargers commencing in 2025.
Gridserve says it is a Gigatons Group company. Gridserve app on Google and Apple, not yet in Australia. - Linga Networks was a provider of electric vehicle charging in regional areas of Vic at Nhill and Rainbow but I noticed in July 2023 their website had closed down. The AC chargers they installed in Western Vic are still installed and listed on PlugShare. Company name Linga Network Pty Ltd.
- Open Charge Map app, this app appears to be an open source aggregator app looking to list multiple EV charging providers, but they don’t seem to be fully populated and launched yet https://openchargemap.org/site

- Sasscharge International GmbH
Sasscharge is a white label ev charging services platform that allows anyone to establish an ev charging network. Reserve or Book an EV Charger
Some EV charging networks allow you to reserve a charger using their app. Currently I notice Exploren offer a “Reserve” feature in their app as do Jolt on some of their plans.
