Autocharge allows an electric vehicle to plug in to an EV charger and automatically start charging.
Autocharge uses an electric vehicle’s Media Access Control (MAC) address, so the EV charging company knows whose account to charge.
An EV owner has the option to have Autocharge enabled through their account with the EV charging network.
There are 525 Autocharge locations in Australia by Evie, Jolt and Tesla.
- 304 of 345 Evie network locations offer Autocharge
- 82 JOLT network locations offer Autocharge
- 139 Tesla network locations offer Autocharge for Tesla vehicles*
If you are using a EV charging station in Australia that doesn’t offer Autocharge, or your EV is not registered for it, the normal methods of activation apply. Half of the EV charging networks let you add and use your own single RFID card or tag, some have credit card terminals, some use QR codes to a portal, most have an app you can use and some have a combination of options.
